Five freestanding granite sculptures weighing a total of 540 tons will enhance the environmental landscape along Johnson Creek in Arlington’s Entertainment District.
Tuesday, June 30, Ark Contracting Services will begin installing the 22 pink granite stones that comprise the sculpture known as Caelum Moor. The installation will be in Richard Greene Linear Park located at 1601 E. Randol Mill Road adjacent to the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington and Cowboys Stadium. The stone monuments range in height from 8 to 30 feet.

Designed by Arlington-based advertising agency Blanchard Schaefer, the new logo was created to capitalize on the dramatic changes to the city’s landscape.
The new brand, “and the crowd goes wild” is reminiscent of the golden days of baseball broadcasts, appropriate for the traditionally-flavored Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Arlington, Texas – Jean Magness, Chairman of the Board for the Miss Texas Organization & Executive Director of the Miss Texas Pageant and Jay Burress, President & CEO of the Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB), today announced the relocation of the Miss Texas and Miss Teen Texas Pageants to Arlington, Texas. The pageants, which are held concurrently each year, will now be held at Texas Hall at the University of Texas Arlington. The move came after pageant staffers were approached by Arlington officials including Representative Joe Barton (R-TX), a 2008 pageant judge, and Joe Bedsole, Director of State and Corporate Accounts with the Arlington CVB, to discuss a possible move to Arlington. The decision to relocate was made to provide a fresh, new face to the pageant in the fast-growing city of Arlington, Texas. The 2009 Miss Texas and Miss Teen Texas Pageants will be held on July 3, 2009 at 7 PM. Agreements have also been signed with two new pageant host hotels, Crowne Plaza Suites - Arlington and Hilton Arlington.

The NFL announced today its 2009 Kickoff Weekend primetime television schedule – including a Monday night “AFL 50th” doubleheader – and the Thanksgiving Day national TV tripleheader.
In a tradition that began in 2004, the Super Bowl champion annually hosts the NFL Thursday night season kickoff the following year. This September 10 at 8:30 PM ET on NBC, the Super Bowl XLIII champion Pittsburgh Steelers will host the AFC South champion Tennessee Titans, who had an NFL-best 13-3 record last season.

ARLINGTON, TX – In an effort to continue to serve the needs of guests, Daireds Salon and Spa Pangea has relocated to five temporary locations in the South Arlington area. This temporary relocation is complete just three weeks after the electrical fire that caused severe structural damage to the 17,500 sq ft salon and spa facility at I-20 and Bowen.
“We felt a real sense of urgency to begin serving our guests who have been so loyal and helped build our business,” says Owner Daired Ogle. “The temporary locations may not have the same amenities our guests are accustomed to, but will offer the same great service and expert staff that guests expect as part of the Daireds experience. The only service limitations will be in accommodating groups and providing food service which will not be available.” Daireds will be honoring all gift certificates and plans to extend the expiration dates to allow guests time to plan and enjoy their spa experience after returning to the permanent I-20 location.

NEW YORK (Monday, 9 March 2009) – The 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup™ will be played in a record 13 different U.S. cities, opening at The Home Depot Center in Los Angeles on Friday, 3 July and concluding with the championship match Sunday, 26 July at Giants Stadium outside New York.
The 13 cities are more than twice than the number previously used for the continental championship and shy of only the 1982 FIFA World Cup™ in Spain and the 2002 FIFA World Cup™, which used 10 venues each in Japan and Korea Republic.
