Technological Upgrades at Cowboys Stadium Include Player Healthcare: New Digital X-Ray Picture Archive Communication System The state-of-the-art technological upgrades at the $1.2 billion Cowboys Stadium extend well beyond the high-def digital board. The new X-Ray room has gone digital. “We now have radiographic digital imaging, no more old-fashioned film,” boasts X-Ray technologist Norm Burgess, RT R, a professor of Radiologic Science at Brookhaven College. “The digital image can be used by team doctors and trainers. And the PAC system – the Picture Archive Communication System – is what many medical centers use to send images and information to improve patient care. With the system here in the stadium, we can send the images to the visiting locker room. In fact, if the doctors or specialists for the visiting team have an IP address, we’ll be able to e-mail the image digitally to them in their respective cities.” In the old days (as in last year at Texas Stadium), an injured player was taken to the cramped X-Ray room. Moments later, film was given to the team doctor who, standing on the sideline, would hold the image up to stadium lights and try to make a diagnosis. Those days are over. [ Click Here For More ] | |
