SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Vice President of Sales, performs all tasks associated with the solicitation and sales of convention and meeting business for the city of Arlington, Texas in the Corporate and other markets that may be assigned by the Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau’s senior management. 

The individual holding this position will function as the City of Arlington’s and the Bureau’s liaison to the Arlington Convention Center, Esports Stadium, and all Arlington hotel sales organizations in regard to convention and meeting sales in markets outlined within the paragraph above.  This individual is expected to represent the Bureau in a positive and professional manner at all times.

Compliance with the employee handbook and all convention and meeting solicitation and sales policies, procedures and guidelines are required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Promote and sell Arlington as a convention and meeting destination with a primary focus on groups that use a multi-hotel package, the Arlington Convention Center and Esports Stadium.

Achievement of all convention and meeting room night goals and/or other pertinent metrics as established by the Bureau’s senior management.

With the assistance and input of the Vice President of Sales, create, develop, and execute innovative sales strategies and tactics against targeted markets and specific clients to ensure Bureau goals and objectives are achieved.

Solicitation and booking of prospective new and repeat convention and meeting business through comprehensive and professional sales presentations to include personal sales calls, trade shows, telemarketing, bid book preparation, e-mail and other written correspondence targeted against all corporate clients as well as other markets and clients that may be outlined by the Vice President of Sales.

Maintenance and prioritization of all client account files and related information and prospective client account files and related information via the Bureau’s Customer Relationship Management System.

Establish and maintain a cooperative and professional business relationship with key event management staff employed at the Arlington Convention Center and the Esports Stadium to ensure critical information for securing convention and meeting business is handled in a timely and thorough manner.

Establish and maintain a cooperative and professional business relationship with all hotels within the city of Arlington, specifically the hotels’ local, regional and national sales organizations to ensure that critical information for securing convention and meeting business is handled in a timely and thorough manner.

Maintain a working knowledge of group friendly restaurants and special event venues within the city to assist with answering client inquiries about off-site event options.

Establish and maintain membership in one industry specific professional association (MPI, PCMA, etc.) and regularly participate in local events sponsored by that organization.

Coordinate all aspects of participation (registration, travel, etc.) in appropriate market specific industry events (conferences, tradeshows, etc.)

Strict adherence to all sales reporting policies, procedures and deadlines as established by the Vice President of Sales, the President & Chief Executive Officer and the Bureau’s Board of Directors.

Perform all other duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree preferred combined with a minimum of five plus years successful direct sales experience within the hospitality industry and/or a convention and visitors bureau or similar non-profit, private hospitality organization.  Ability to focus on and prioritize key business objectives is a must.

COMPUTER SOFTWARE SKILLS:

Solid skill level in terms of all software specifically associated with the Microsoft Office package: Word, Excel and Power Point.  Ability to quickly become familiar with and utilize the Bureau’s Data Base System.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business and sales trends presented through business periodicals, professional journals and other relevant external as well as internal Bureau sources.  Strong ability to write and, at times, verbally present concise and impactful reports, business correspondence, meeting specification needs and bid proposals.  Strong ability to effectively present data and information and directly respond to oral and written questions from groups composed of business managers, clients, customers, the general public as well his/her internal audience within the Bureau organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, percent and geometric dimensions.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Valid Texas Driver's License, Class C.
