If you’re an Arlington local or visitor who loves golf, or if you’ve been thinking about taking up the game, you’re in luck. Arlington golf offers everything you need to enjoy a lovely morning or afternoon of top-notch play, including attractive and challenging courses, golf instruction, budget-friendly fees, and a host of amenities.

There’s more to know, but before we elaborate, let’s look at an overview of each of Arlington’s four golf courses:

Meadowbrook Golf Course: 52 acres, 9 holes, par 33. Located immediately outside of the Downtown Arlignton district, Arlington’s oldest course is a great choice for family play, kids and golf leagues, or anyone who wants or needs a shorter round of golf played in a pleasant setting.

Lake Arlington Golf Course: 185 acres, 18 holes, par 71. Amenities and features include long, challenging par 3s, a pro shop with club repair, a small café with patio seating, and an attractive course design with a number of interesting natural elements.

Tierra Verde Golf Club 250 acres, 18 holes, par 72.  Amenities and features include an innovative course design, pro shop, state-of-the-art golf learning center, practice course, chipping and putting green complex, and a full-service restaurant and bar. Tierra Verde is also noted for a number of awards and accolades, including recognition in the “Top 100 Courses” list from the Dallas Morning News, selection as a host site for two Byron Nelson qualifying tournaments, and multi-year recognition on Avid Golfer’s annual “Best Public Courses” list.

Coming Soon: The all-new Chester Ditto Golf Course, set to re-open in the spring of 2018. It’s going to be fabulous! Watch a video

Now, let’s take a look at all of the other great benefits that Arlington golf has to offer:

One: Scenic courses

If you live in Arlington, it’s worth taking up golf just for the chance to spend time in the secluded beauty of Arlington’s golf facilities, particularly the ultra-gorgeous Tierra Verde course, which boasts 250-acres’ worth of native grasses, sculpted fairways, stately trees, and sweeping views. Fun Fact: Tierra Verde is also the first municipal golf course in the world to be certified as an Audubon Signature Sanctuary in recognition for meeting environmentally-friendly design standards that protect and enhance local wildlife populations.

Two: Challenging play for all levels

No matter if you’ve been swinging a golf club for three minutes or three decades, Arlington golf courses offer a satisfying playing experience that’s right for you. Consult with an Arlington Golf team member to find out which course is the best fit—or better still, play a round at each of them and decide for yourself. Find out how to schedule tee times.

Three: Chester Ditto Golf Course

In the spring of 2018, following an extensive renovation, Arlington Golf will celebrate the much-anticipated grand reopening of the Chester Ditto Golf Course. In addition to exciting new playing experiences on each hole, the updated Ditto facility will feature a full-service restaurant and bar, private meeting space, new bunkers, an expanded driving range and practice facility, new greens, and five sets of tees that accommodate a range of playing abilities. Four: Affordability

Compared to dues and fees of private club membership, golfing in Arlington is pretty budget-friendly, especially if you take advantage of the many discounts and special offers that Arlington Golf offers on a year-round basis—such as the Arlington Golf Trade-In Program, which lets parents earn credits towards the purchase of new clubs when their kids outgrow their current set. Also, be sure to check out the Arlington Golf Frequent Players Club, which offers discounts on green fees, cart rentals, merchandise, and food and beverage, along with advance notice of special offers, booking privileges, and a number of other benefits.

Five: Amenities

Amenities at Arlington golf courses abound, including picnic grounds, pro shops, golf instruction, practice areas, and food and beverage service. Especially worth checking out is Tierra Verde’s charming Ventana Grille, which offers full restaurant and bar service indoors and out. It’s a perfect spot for private events, relaxing after 18 holes, or enjoying a delicious lunch with a fabulous view.

Six: Golf instruction, leagues, and tournaments

Private golf lessons, golf clinics and golf camps are available at Tierra Verde for golfers of all ages and abilities, including beginners. All instruction is provided by PGA/LPGA professionals and apprentices. Stay tuned to the Arlington Golf tournament website page for updates about special events and leagues for women, juniors, seniors, two-person “best ball”, and more.

Seven: FootGolf

One of the benefits of following our blog is that you learn cool facts about “secret stuff” in Arlington that you can impress your friends with—like the fact that Arlington’s Meadowbrook facility, in addition to being Arlington’s oldest golf course, is also home one of the Dallas-Fort Worth area’s first FootGolf courses (and the only FootGolf course located in Arlington).

For the unschooled, FootGolf blends soccer and golf elements in a super-fun game where the object is to kick a soccer ball into a 21-inch cup with as few kicks as possible. Since the rules are easy to understand and no equipment is required (other than a soccer ball), it’s an easy sport for players to quickly pick up and enjoy, regardless of age, ability, or budget.
