Does your life’s big romance have a sentimental connection to Arlington, TX? If yes, and if you’re thinking about making things permanent with an engagement to your one and only in 2018, here are nine great spots to pop the question in Arlington:

ONE: The Six Flags Oil Derrick

Day or night, one of the most memorable 360-degree views of the Dallas-Fort Worth region can be had atop the iconic 300-foot Six Flags Oil Derrick, one of the oldest attractions at Six Flags Over Texas and the most famous member of the Arlington skyline. After you get a “yes”, enjoy some romantic twosome time on the observation deck, then stroll around looking for the best spots to take an epic engagement selfie. Oil Derrick can be tricky to catch open, so we suggest clear summer months, and calling ahead.

TWO: Top O’ Hill Terrace/Arlington Baptist College

Tucked away from the city’s hustle and bustle, behind a black iron gate, a hilly drive and a grove of mature trees, Arlington Baptist University offers quiet solitude and lots of pretty views for the couple who loves scenery and quaint settings.

This out-of-the-ordinary proposal destination is also good choice if you dig local history or relish having a good yarn to spin about how you two crazy kids got engaged: Arlington Baptist University was once home to Top O’ Hill Terrace, a posh tearoom and casino that was quite the gangster hangout back in the day. THREE: The Arlington Entertainment District Sculpture Trail

This pick is another excellent choice for couples who like to be a little bit different. The Arlington Entertainment District Sculpture Trail is a series of striking public art installations that offer an array of possibilities for creative and memorable proposals, as well interesting settings for engagement photos. From the sculpture trail website: “Set against the beautiful backdrop of Globe Life Park and AT&T Stadium, the Sculpture Trail provides a unique combination of art, nature, and architecture that can only be found here in The American Dream City.” Note: Access may be limited during construction of Texas Live! FOUR: River Legacy

Not only is this amazing greenspace a wonderful destination for weddings or wedding photography sessions, it’s also a great backdrop for popping the question—especially for couples who love nature,  or who have a treasure trove of wonderful memories spending time at River Legacy as children or as a couple. Get with the River Legacy staff ahead of time to find out which of the park’s numerous scenic overlooks or trail stops is the perfect spot for your big moment, then celebrate afterward with a romantic picnic.

FIVE: Arlington’s World Class Sports Stadiums

If your romance is written in Cowboy blue or Rangers red, you can consider any number of proposal opportunities and picturesque spots in and around AT&T Stadium or Globe Life Park. Don’t forget to check into both venues’ numerous luxury suite options or behind-the-scenes tour opportunities as possible backdrops for your special moment.

SIX: The Dream Sculpture

Twelve feet high and 54-feet long, this gorgeous Downtown Arlington art installation is one of the most unusual destinations in town—and what better place to start your new life together than a place that celebrates the power of dreams and dreamers? Bonus: Raise a glass to your upcoming nuptials immediately afterwards at a Downtown Arlington pub, eatery, or fine dining establishment, many of which are within walking distance of Founders Plaza.

SEVEN: The Star of Texas

This one is yet another public art project that makes an excellent proposal setting for couples who have strong ties to Arlington, love Texas-themed art or just enjoy a bit of whimsy. Star of Texas installations are located throughout the city, including Gene Allen Park (the Rainbow sculpture), Veterans Park (Red, White, and Blue sculpture), and the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame (Rainbow sculpture).

EIGHT: Arlington Bed & Breakfast

Pop the question in high style at the Sanford House Inn & Spa or the Thornton Inn Bed & Breakfast, where you’ll have the advantage of a charming setting in which to frame your big moment; plus the opportunity to celebrate afterwards with a post-proposal cocktail, couples’ spa treatment, or four-star meal.

NINE: Southwest Nature Preserve

One of Arlington’s hidden outdoor gems just might be the perfect place for your proposal, especially if you and your special someone are lovers of nature and “secret” places. Among the noteworthy points of  Southwest Nature Preserve are the park’s three ponds, a terraced outdoor seating area, a fishing pier and boardwalk, and a host of intriguing native plant communities —and of interest to the would-be proposer, a high sandstone bluff that affords dramatic views of spots as far away as the downtown Fort Worth skyline.
