James Bond 007 says a martini is best when “shaken, not stirred,” but I’m sure everyone would agree that a beer is best served simply in a frosty mug. We would also suggest you try one on an Arlington, Texas patio on a spring or summer day. Delightful! That’s right, this versatile drink, equally refreshing as an ale, lager, pilsner, porter or stout, is fun while relaxing by the pool or while getting lost in a sea of cheering fans at a Dallas Wings, Dallas Cowboys or Texas Rangers game; it is just as agreeable to savor with a Leg of Lamb at Chamas Do Brazil as it is to chug on a gameday with Scotch Eggs at Revolver Brewing Bldg. 5 at Texas Live!
The industry expansion in and around Arlington means that beer lovers have even more to sample these days. Like many other cities in the nation, we have seen a rise in the number of local breweries and microbrewery taps available. If beer is your favorite brew, then let your cup runneth over in Arlington! You can always order more. Here are some local flavors and options that beer loyalists will salute:
Division Brewing, 506 E. Main St.
Quality.Creativity.Variety. Enjoy a hand-crafted beer from enthusiasts that boast more than 20 years of combined experience. Division has become synonymous with edgy, hip beers, and their elevated menu offers unique flavor profiles that you won’t find just anywhere. How about a Cordial Crush or a Macaroon Morning? Their Grind and Press is a bold choice…an Imperial Coffee Stout.
Legal Draft, 500 E. Division St.
If loving top-notch beer is a crime, then lock these folks up! Legal Draft was started in 2015 by a recovering attorney and retired logistics guy. The small brewery, which opened as the initial anchor of the now-bustling Urban Union district, has grown into a beloved beer mecca and hangout. In fact, several nearby restaurants boast using their beer as ingredients (try the PRESUMED INNOCENT IPA FISH & CHIPS at Mercury Chophouse)! Their gluten free option, Free & Clear Lager, is outstanding.
Revolver Brewing at Texas Live!, 1605 E. Randol Mill Rd.
Revolver Brewing BLDG 5 Tap Room is the baby of the Arlington craft community, but they are a goliath in the DFW area. Revolver was founded in 2012 in Granbury, Texas by a father and son, and it is one of Texas’ fastest growing craft breweries. They are located inside the Texas Live!, which features a brew pub, tasting room, and outdoor seating in the courtyard. Explore the entire space because Texas Live! is 35,000 square feet of awesome, with restaurants, dance floors, shops and gameday screens. Plus, it is steps away from all three stadiums, so your Fitbit approves!
St. Patrick's Day is around the corner, so you may have green beer on the brain. Pre-party with Sham - ROCK at Texas Live! On March 13, then let your green show for Joshua Tree, a U2 tribute band, in Ram Backyard on March 17th. There will also be drink and green beer specials, plus a Stars Watch Party Giveaway and a Green Tea shot special.
Prefer to enjoy your pint at home? On your socially-distanced patio, perhaps? Our growler bar options let you enjoy your fun on the run.
Kool Keg, 207 S. East St.
Kool Keg has been rocking the largest selection of beer kegs, margarita machines and full-service alcohol catering in DFW since the 1980s. The Arlington location is offering beer keg and frozen drink machine rentals.
On Tap DFW, 200 N. Mesquite Suite 105
This place is a treasure trove of craft brew offerings, with 40+ rotating taps of beer from across the nation. If you seek a local flavor, sample the diverse brews of the Lone Star State: Fredericksburg, Dallas, Houston, Austin, Fort Worth, Carrollton, Addison, and more. You’ll also find favorites from our Arlington local breweries, Legal Draft and Division Brewing. They offer beer flights, pints or growlers, and kegs.
Lazy Dog Restaurant, 241 E. Interstate 20 Hwy. (in the Arlington Highlands)
This hot spot for doggie mommies and daddies (they even have a separate menu for fur babies!) offers an expansive beer menu, including Lazy Dog’s own house beer options. Their Beer Club Membership is a sweet deal, providing subscribers with draft upgrades, a draft sampler every month, a Quarterly Themed Kit, priority seating and discounted takeout for food and beer. I want to mention that the scratch-made food is delicious, and it includes plenty of vegetarian options. The Spaghetti Squash and Beetballs is one of my faves!
