It’s that time of the year again… the Red River Showdown!
Check out some of these local Arlington favorites to watch the Texas Longhorns take on the Oklahoma Sooners!
As seen on the Travel Channel and Food Network, J. Gilligans is home of the World-Famous Irish Nachos. This Arlington staple is family owned and operated, with lots of comfort food options on their menu. It’s a great family-friendly environment to kick back and watch the game on their many high-definition TVs. Insider Tip: The UTA Special gives you a “meal deal” fit for any college student’s budget and will allow for more room to enjoy Irish Nacho’s and your favorite beer!
While the Lincoln Square location finishes their remodel, head over to the Arlington Highlands location! Cheer on your favorite team while watching the game on their wall-to-wall TVs. BoomerJack’s has something on their menu for everyone from burgers and sandwiches to steaks and seafood. The also have a wide beer and mixed-drink selection, with some of the best drink specials in town! Insider Tip: BoomerJack’s Patio is the place to be and with the game bringing fall temps, you can be cool and comfortable while watching the game outdoors.
Texas Live!
This is one of the best spots in town to watch any game. Unfortunately, Texas Live! will be closed to the public on Saturday, October 9th for a private event. Be sure to check it out for the next big game!
Buffalo Wings & Rings
If you’re looking for a sports restaurant experience that goes beyond just buffalo wings, check out Buffalo Wings & Rings. Watch the game inside on one of their 34 big screen TVs or on one of their two outdoor patios. Try one of their signature craft cocktails, one of many chef-inspired recipes, and of course their signature wings. Insider Tip: This wing restaurant is not just about the Buffalo Sauce. Check out one of the other sauces available including my favorite, the Thai Chili with it’s sweet hot goodness!
Located in the heart of Downtown Arlington, Maverick’s Sports Grill is a local favorite! They have quite the selection of appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, and a variety of premium and imported beers to wash it all down with. Maverick’s always has the game on, with coverage of SEC, The Longhorn Network, and the Big 10 Network, so you can watch more than just the Red River Showdown! Insider Tip: Named for the UTA Mavericks mascot, this local college hangout will provide the perfect “college game day” vibes!
