Just 20 minutes away from downtown, Lake Arlington is a premier destination brimming with things to do for outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds. Located on Village Creek, a tributary of the West Fork Trinity River, just north of I-20 off Arkansas Lane, Lake Arlington is an ideal location for fishing, canoeing, or playing a round of golf, only minutes from the bustling city center.

Fish

For a relaxing day of fishing, head out to Lake Arlington and get ready to catch a variety of fish like black bass, sand bass, hybrid stripers, catfish, and crappie. Different species are more abundant depending on the season, but no matter when you go, you are sure to have a fun time. If you are 17 and over, Texas law requires a fishing permit. Once acquired, grab your buddies, gear, and cooler, and you’re set!

Canoe or Kayak

Get out and explore Lake Arlington by canoe or kayak. The Lake Arlington Paddling Trail is the first paddling trail in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and the first flat water paddling trail in all of Texas. You can rent a canoe, kayak, or stand-up paddleboard through Adventures Unlimited, located right on the lake. There are three put in/take out spots along the river, allowing you to customize how far you want to paddle. The trails range from 4 to 10.9 miles, and float time can take between three to six hours.

Jet Ski or Boat

If you love an adrenaline rush, Lake Arlington is the perfect place to try out those new jet skis or do some water skiing. There are boat ramps and docks where you can launch your personal watercraft and set out for a day of high-speed excitement. Or simply relax on the calm waters of Lake Arlington with friends and family aboard a sailboat or paddle boat. Jet ski and pontoon rentals are available at the lake.

Play at the Park

Richard Simpson Park is a 9-acre city park located on the shoreline of Lake Arlington. The park has a playground, walking trails, boat ramp, floating docks, and picnic stations with grills. It’s a great place to bring the kids to play, take a nice leisurely walk surrounded by the natural beauty of Arlington, and then grill up some hamburgers and hot dogs for a filling meal before heading back out to enjoy all Lake Arlington has to offer.

Golf

For all of you golfers out there, Lake Arlington boasts an amazing 18-hole, par-71 facility on 185 acres of land. Redesigned in 2008, Lake Arlington Golf Course offers a complex course with open and tree-lined fairways, challenging par 3s, and lush greenery to surround you as you play. The course also has a putting green and chipping area, as well as a full pro shop, club repair, and a small cafe overlooking the 18th hole.
