Every year, the month of June is celebrated as LGBTQ+ Pride month throughout the United States. Pride is a community celebration of acceptance, identity, and inclusion. Diversity is, and has been, the strongest thread in the fabric that makes up the Arlington community and we recognize the great strength it has brought to our city.
Arlington has been rated with an above perfect score from the Human Rights Campaign’s Municipal Equality Index. (Overachieving - because that’s how we roll.) The Index measures how well cities are embodying LGBTQ+ inclusion in their laws, policies, and services.
Get in on the Pride celebration this month by partaking in the festivities! Here are some events that are being hosted by our friends:
On Saturday, June 11, the City of Arlington LGBTQ advisory committee come together at the new Help Center for LGBT Health & Wellness Arlington location to celebrate their first Pride event. Enjoy the day with live music, DJs, drag queens, food and drinks, games and fun.
On Sunday, June 12, at Troy’s over in the Texas Live! Venue, two Disney Drag Brunches will be hosted by the Mystique Summers from RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 2. She will be joined by her fellow queens Candi Carroll, Kathy O’Connor, Shasta Montana, and Eliza Rocks. DJ Al Farb will provide beats that these queens will sashay and strut to get a party started! All tickets include a family style brunch, but do not include bubbly. A portion of the proceeds will go to the HELP Center of Arlington and Arlington Museum of Art.
