No doubt about it - Arlington, TX is a first-class family vacation destination. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have a grown-up good time in this town whenever you’re ready for it.

Don't let summer slip away without getting the party started. These six destinations for kid-free fun will serve as an excellent foundation for an adults-only happiness agenda:

Salsa up your Saturday night at Gloria’s.

And you thought Gloria’s was just a great place for mojitos and margaritas. It is – but each Saturday night, this upscale south Arlington eatery also turns into a smokin’ hot salsa dance bar, live music included.

Watch the Texas Rangers in style.

Okay, I admit it. I love putting my feet up in the shade or air conditioning and watching a great ballgame while I enjoy a first class meal or a fancy drink. Trust me - you will, too. So round up a few grownup friends and put together a party in a luxurious Texas Rangers Dinner Suite. Suite attendants, parking passes, flat-screen TVs and private restrooms are all part of the deal – and plenty of nearby hotel options make it easy to turn your Rangers excursion into an overnight getaway.

Dinner at Restaurant 506 at the Sanford House

Seared salmon pasta, prime New York sirloin and creative cocktails served up in an intimate, elegant setting? Yes, please! And since you’re here, you might as well make a pampered weekend of it and also book a couple of nights at the Sanford House Inn and Spa.

Take flight at World of Beer.

I don’t know why beer’s more fun when it comes in flight form, but it’s probably for the same reason that food’s more fun when it comes from a truck.  I do know that World of Beer is a festive destination for beer novices and aficionados alike, whether you’re into flights, bottles, or drafts. Plus, they offer a number of tasty pub menu items to nibble on - and live trivia events each Wednesday night.

Get away for the weekend at the Hilton Arlington.

A heated indoor/outdoor pool, updated and comfy rooms, haute Texas cuisine at the R Bar & Grill, and quick access to all of Arlington’s major attractions. What’s not to like about the Hilton Arlington? Bonus: Sports-loving couples should check out the hotel’s Baseball Fan Package, which includes daily breakfast for two and shuttle service to and from Globe Life Park.

Listen to live music in Downtown Arlington.

Downtown Arlington - where do I begin? You can pack a wine-and-cheese picnic basket and do a concert under the stars at the Levitt Pavilion, enjoy music with a side of Irish Nachos at J. Gilligan’s, help yourself to a little culture at Symphony Arlington, or catch a familiar favorite at Arlington Music Hall.

Have a date night at the Movie Tavern.

Just getting to watch a grownup movie is excellent. But watching one at the Movie Tavern, where you can kick back in a luxury seat and enjoy an adult bevvie and a brought-to-your-seat dinner, is like 20 times more excellent. Maybe 100.

Do golf and dinner at Tierra Verde.

One of Arlington’s best kept secrets is the Tierra Verde Golf Course, an Avid Golfer “best of” golf destination where you’ll find challenging play and scenic fairways. After you’ve played your last hole, head in for a delicious dinner at Ventana Grill, which features a contemporary American menu and gorgeous views.
