ICYMI: There is TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE on April 8, 2024 that will cross North America. A total eclipse happens when the Moon passes the Sun and Earth, completely blocks the face of the Sun, and the sky darkens like it’s dawn or dusk.

While total solar eclipses happen every one to three years, they are typically only visible from Earth’s poles or from the middle of the ocean. According to NASA this will be the last total solar eclipse visible from continental U.S. until August 2044.

The majority of the continental U.S. will only see a partial totality, but BONUS! Arlington (and the DFW area) are on the path of TOTALITY. This eclipse is being coined as the “Great North American Eclipse”, and Arlington is expected to see the totality for about three minutes.

Here’s when to expect the eclipse on April 8th:

Partial Eclipse Begins: 12:23 PM
Totality Begins: 1:40 PM
Maximum Total Eclipse: 1:42 PM
Totality Ends: 1:44 PM
Partial Eclipse Ends: 3:02 PM
