Grab your gals and pals! It’s Galentine’s Day! All the way back in 2010, Leslie Knope (AKA the legendary Amy Poehler) brought Galentine’s Day to the world on NBC’s hit show Parks & Recreation – and our lives have never been the same. On February 13th, it’s time to leave the significant others at home and make some time for just your besties. Check out our ideas on how best to celebrate Galentine’s Day in Arlington.

Arlington Museum of Art Wicked Threads

Embrace your inner artist and experience some culture at the Arlington Museum of Art! The AMA is known for cultivating engaging experiences in each of its three gallery spaces, so we promise you won’t leave disappointed. They currently have real costumes on display from the Wicked movie and Walt Disney Archives from movies spanning years of movie magic as well as Princess Diana: Accredited Access Exhibition featuring photographs from official royal photographers. You can also try your hand at creating some art yourself like pottery wheel lessons or water marbling on silk scarves at Catalyst Creative Arts and create DIY wood projects at Board and Brush

Spa at The Sanford House Inn and Spa

This is your sign to make sure the spa trip plans make it out of the group chat. Exfoliate and hydrate with a glowy facial or enjoy a relaxing full-body massage at Sanford Inn and Spa or the spa at Loews Arlington. This year we’re all about self-care, so take a deep breath and hit the spa with your squad.

The Mosaic Market

In true Parks & Rec fashion, it wouldn’t be Galentine’s Day without a little “Treat Yo Self” moment! Head over to Downtown Arlington and check out Mosaic Market. It’s perfect if you’re on the hunt for more unique items and want to support some local vendors. If boutiques are more your thing, check out Gracie Lane for 50 different vendors in one location. And if always on the hunt for the perfect vintage find, explore rows and rows of antique goods at Cooper Street Antique Mall. Or hit up some staple retailers in the Arlington Highlands.

Taipo behind the door drinks

Looking for a bite to eat or to grab some drinks? Some of our favorites are Taipo: Behind the Door for a lychee martini and some dumplings, Marianos Hacienda for chips, guac, and margaritas, or the Social House for some aps and spiked lemonade. Cheers to you and your besties!
