Arlington has so many fun places to make memories with your grandkids. Here is a list of my favorite places in the city to take my grandbabies where we’re both guaranteed to have a great time!

  1. The Popcorn Store
    662 Lincoln Square

A family favorite since my (now adult) kids were little is The Popcorn Store at Lincoln Square. A family-owned and operated business since 1982, the store dons a red door with a yellow sign that simply says POPCORN, where free fresh samples are available. 40 flavors of gourmet made-from-scratch popcorn. The popcorn flavors vary from plain, rich and creamy to specialty savory.  At the Popcorn Store, they have every type of flavor from chocolate cheese cake, flavored popcorn to bacon cheddar, dill pickle, pizza, cherry, cinnamon, key lime, and the list goes on and on. Once you’ve made your selection, the many options leave you feeling happy that you just hit the spot!

  1. Furr’s Fresh Buffett
    300 E Interstate 20

This family-friendly chain offers hearty American food including Southern dishes at a great cost. When no one can agree on lunch or dinner, this is a fun choice. Their home-style meals are seasonal such as The Backyard BBQ flavors or Hamburgers and Hotdogs. Choices-salads, entrees, veggies, desserts, and frozen yogurt and much more, there is plenty of nutrition for the whole family. For a limited time, there is an All Day Kids Buffett for $4.99 and kids under 3 eat free. Dine in seniors 60+ discount.

  1. Half Price Books
    2211 S Cooper St & 770 Road to Six Flags E

This place has more than books. It’s a family tradition. There’s something for everyone. The kids absolutely love this place. The prices are incredible. Take your old movies and that includes (VHS) when you go. Half Price Books is a family-owned business that buys and sells secondhand books as well as movies and music in various formats. The kids love finding their own books and games. Also, if you are a teacher, don’t forget to ask for a discount card.

  1. Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory
    4000 Arlington Highlands Blvd #125

Grandkids love small things. They feel that they are made just for them. Chocolate covered Oreos, crispy treats, truffles, and caramel apples cut for you. The variety of caramel apples are wonderful. The famous caramel is made from scratch right up front and center. Customers can see and smell the magic. The seasonal specials only add to the magic. These make great teachers’ gifts. The grandkids love presenting them to their teachers-asked for it to be gift wrap.

  1. AMC The Parks at Arlington

3861 S Cooper St

The movie theater is a fun place to take the grandkids and build memories together. Allow them to choose the kid-appropriate movies. Kids love to make decisions. Plus, they have a great 60+ senior discount!
